The truth is April 24, 1970, Dante and a few friends went to the Green Dragon Society Black Cobra Hall and a fight got started and Jim Konsevic was killed. It was not Waukegan. Cooley's book mentions nothing about Waukegan.
There was more than one fight, more than one confrontation...thre were bombings, harrassment, all kindsa good fun. I dont know about what was written in anyones book, just what I heard and saw back then.
Maybe there was more than on Count Dante. I have heard nothing about Dante and Gang Activity as an adult. What you heard is just more of the mythology.
Never said anything about gang activity, Floyd. As far as mythology, where do you have your info from? I've been training in various arts in and around Chicago since 1963. I think I'm fairly familiar with some of the stuff that's happened.

I started training in Shotokan, and then Bagua and finally Tai Chi from about 1964 on in Chicago and attended many tournaments in the city and region. His name was John Keehan when I first met the guy.
So is there anyone else around who remembers Count Dante and his boys busting up a school in Waukegan?
I am not being disrespectful. I am just trying to get to the bottom of the nythologies and convulted stories. There was not a bombing, but there was an attempt. Were there others?
I had a fellow student in Gregory Jaco's class who with a student of Dante's back in those days. He is doing 60 years to life in the IL State Penal system. He has never mentioned this waukegan episode. He is also a member of the P-Stone Nation, so I am sure he would know, as a student of Dante's if he had any gang affiliations. He has never mentioned that.
I am just trying to do a life story of this guy that rises about the myths as much as possible.
I'm not aware of "dante" having gang ties, nor did I ever claim he did.
Can't help what yer friend did or didn't tell you...all I did was pass on what I heard at the time. I personally know a gentleman who was a member of the school that was busted up-so what? I said nothing about a killing-on the contrary, what I said was that when a guy brought out a sword, that was the end of the fight.
The statement on the blog here is an amalgamation from different sources, just one small part of which is my relaying what was going on in Chicago then.
If your friend is telling you that there were no other incidents involving Dante/Keehan then I would be skeptical of that.
