There were a lot of the Lawndale Gaylords back in 1974. I remember it was put up right before our first mural. We had just repainted the whole wall going across. Stepin gave us money from the dues to do our first mural. We even clear coated it and was very shiney. I was busted by the cops for working on it with a few other brothers. I had a 12 in brush in my pants when they grabbed me. The cops took my brush I had just stoled from Saxon's to clear coat the wall. I sat in jail but the guys got it done. I got out a few hours later to see our nice new mural up. We got a few pictures before the Gangster hit it. For a whole week we guarded it ever night taking turns. The Gangster would drive by with babyfood jars full of pink paint and try hitting the wall. At the same time we hung a dummy up with a Gangster sweater right in the middle of Fullerton Av. The Gangster went crazy over it. There CTA bus they all take would go right pass it. The Gangsters would get off at Centralpark by the YMCA and stare at it in disbelief.Man we knew how to represent back then lol.

One other thing about Bradley Zeman you neglected on your website was that he was NOT white. He was American indian. Ironic, and interesting to note.

LOL, I dont know what brought me to this site except a little search for current gang trends like the above poster but I can not believe how you have canonized Bradley Zeman on your site. I am sad to hear of his death simply because I knew him, and I knew deep down there had to be some good in him, but I never saw it. Bradley was a punk, if he were alive I am sure he still would be. I am sure it devastated his family, if I remember correctly he had a child, and a girlfriend he frequently cheated on. I think his mother was already dead or was that his dad? He dated my sister, took her virginity, then stole the very necklace off my neck and then of course preceeded to try to sleep with me. He really thought himself a player back then! But i will acknowledge he was one mean jerk off when he wanted to be. I knew you guys very well back in those days on Seeley and Eastwood, in fact I lived on the corner next to the firehouse! I saw personally how many times you guys beat guys who would come to visit us. Scaring the hell out of everyone. lol Those were the days when Latin Kings, stones and cobras would risk their lives to come see us, with you assholes sitting in our backyard watching and waiting to chase them into our entrance way and beat the living shit out of them in front of us. Yep those were the days.

You take me too serious. I had lots of fun with you guys. I thought you got that tone, when I said I said "those were the days", you guys did beat up a lot of our friends and other boyfriends but we were actually flattered you guys cared and would stalk us and wait for them. We were just stupid white girls that didnt know anything about gangs then. We werent even from Chicago, you guys were really our first and fast education on that. You remember us? Melissa and Samantha? I didnt much like Bradley but still I am sad to hear anyone I knew is now dead. Nice site, it is nostalgic. I enjoyed seeing the pictures of our old neighborhood. I drove past there just about a month ago (Seeley & Eastwood) with fond memories and saw the firehouse now gone. I miss those days of youth, the good and bad.

Take care,

Samantha

Boy does this site bring back memories. I was just looking up a friend on classmates.com who went to Lane Tech and ran across Joe Butera who i guess was an LA Gaylord and had pictures and now i'm here. I went to Prosser Vocational H.S. from 1975-79 and i remember alot of the clubs and hung out with many but was never a member of any. I remember Zeppelin( Steve Wilson) from M/C, Mark Janik (greaser) from the Rice Boys, John Tillotson(Flint)from the Playboys (Cragin). All the clubs were represented at Prosser, Gaylords,C-Notes,Playboys,Rice Boys,Popes,Jousters,Imperial Gangsters,Unknowns, you name it. It's great to go back in time and i had many of the cards shown and then some and it was great to see the sweaters. You did a very good job with this sight and all the links to it. I will be buying this book soon to go back in time. And many of the former members of these gangs have gone on to be cops, pipe fitters, electricians, etc, as i have run in to some over the years and even worked with some.
